Coca‑Cola study measures global happiness
A Coca‑Cola commissioned study finds out what makes the world smile

Did you know? People in the Philippines and Mexico, are the happiest people worldwide, according to our global happiness index survey.
We created the Coca‑Cola Happiness Institute in Spain in 2008 to provide real information to support the link between happiness and wellness. Our Happiness Barometer Survey is your official guide to what makes people happiest!
We asked eight happiness-themed questions of 12,500 individuals in 16 countries, aged between 15 and 65. It seems that people don't link money or celebrity to happiness. Travelling around the world, volunteering to help others and meeting the love of their life are far more important. Families and partners bring the most happiness, and friends are more important in teen happiness.
In this part of the world, catching up with friends and family is a daily highlight for adults, as is putting their feet up for 21% or just having dinner with the family. 20% of grownups mentioned that as important, but only 4% of teens did. As for Coca‑Cola, it’s all in the taste, say over half of those surveyed, so what better way to up your happiness quota than by sharing a Coke with family or friends?
We’ve always been firm believers in small moments of simple pleasures, so we’re delighted that even our bubbles make 12% of people happy, and for eight out of every hundred the sound of our bottle opening is enough to make them smile.
