Coca‑Cola Clean Coast Week
Working with community groups to keep our coastline green

Coca‑Cola Clean Coast Week is a nationwide initiative by An Tasice. For one week in June, communities roll up their sleeves and get stuck into local projects that care for and protect Ireland’s shoreline.
More than 50 Coastcare groups signed up for the coastal tidy-up in 2011. These voluntary groups care for a particular stretch of beach or coastline and, during Clean Coast Week, organise projects such as beach (and even underwater!) clean-up sessions.
Did you know? Ireland has almost 3,000 miles of coastline
Speaking at the launch of Coca‑Cola Clean Coast Week 2011, Phil Hogan, Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government commented: "We are lucky in Ireland to have such a valuable natural resource as our beautiful coastline. It is in the national interest that we all try to protect and improve the high quality of our coastline and initiatives, such as the Clean Coast Week, are a contributing factor in achieving this objective."
Marcel Martin, General Manager for Coca‑Cola Hellenic Ireland also said: "We are delighted to partner with An Taisce in support of this initiative for the second year. Coca‑Cola is committed to investing in the local environment, protecting the natural beauty of our beaches and encouraging community participation in preserving our landscape."
Creative individuals could get involved with An Tasice’s sand-sculpting competition, open to all throughout the week, and their annual Clean Coasts Photography Competition.
