National Spring Clean
Showing our support for Ireland's biggest ever all-island anti-litter initiative

The National Spring Clean campaign is Ireland’s longest-running and largest anti-litter initiative, organised by An Taisce and funded by the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government. In 2012, the campaign becomes bigger than ever as it joins forces with Big Clean Up in Northern Ireland.
Did you know? In 2011, more than half a million people organised clean-ups around the country as part of the National Spring Clean
Coca Cola HBC Ireland co-sponsors the National Spring Clean, along with Wrigley. As well as promoting personal responsibility and an awareness of recycling, the programme’s aims include improving quality of life and helping to stimulate tourism by enhancing and protecting our country’s appeal.
Initiatives like this also have a hugely positive effect on communities, as National Spring Clean chairperson Patricia Oliver explains: "It is apparent that Ireland’s community spirit is alive and well with so many people giving their time and energy voluntarily to take part in clean-up events. There are many communities who have been involved in the campaign from the very beginning, who have continued to take part each year. I would like to praise all of the volunteers who give their time to come together each spring and contribute to making Ireland a cleaner place to live."
Also speaking at the 2012 launch, Minister Phil Hogan, TD, said, "It is encouraging to witness the success of the National Spring Clean campaign, which continues to attract such huge numbers of volunteers."
