Last week hundreds of mums, dads, colleagues and locals took part in the Coca-Cola HBC Foróige 5k run to raise funds for young people in Dublin 15. People of all abilities came along to the National Sports Campus in Blanchardstown, where the event was hosted, and completed the challenge with a defiant run, jog or stroll.

Foróige, the national youth development organisation, which has a network of more than 600 youth clubs and cafés, coordinated the run and partnered with Coca-Cola HBC, which employs 300 people at its premises in Ballycoolin. Participants enjoyed a range of entertainment on the day, including penalty shoot outs, face painting and a short run for young people down the “Yellow Brick Road”.

Cash prizes were awarded to the first and second place male and female, with vouchers for the third placed male and female. Everyone who crossed the start line went home with a medal and a goody bag.

“We are extremely grateful that Coca-Cola HBC Ireland have come on board to sponsor our 5k event along with the National Sports Campus who have kindly provided us with their top of the range facility in Blanchardstown to host the event” said Bernie Moloney, Foróige. “All funds raised will go towards the much needed provision of educational and pro-social programmes and activities for young people aged 10-18 years old from Dublin 15”.
