The countdown to Christmas has begun! We’re getting into the festive spirit here at Coca-Cola Ireland with the launch of our eagerly anticipated Holidays Are Coming campaign. And this year promises to be our biggest yet.

After the announcement of our iconic Coca-Cola Christmas Truck Tour earlier this month, we’re now bringing you more exciting news: the Holidays Are Coming advert is returning to Irish screens! This year we’ve spiced things up, adding a few extra magical scenes to the advert you know and love. See for yourself below…

Christmas carols with a (refreshing) twist

At Coca-Cola, we’re all about savouring the moment, and Christmas is no exception. To help families get into the Christmas spirit and create magical memories that will last a lifetime, we’re setting up shop at each stop. Think of it as Santa’s grotto, but in your very own backyard.

This year, visitors will be able to enjoy a can of Coca-Cola zero sugar, Diet Coke or Coca-Cola original taste, with a unique, musical twist. Ireland’s very own a cappella barbershop choir, The Ramparts, will be performing Christmas carols to get the crowds in the festive spirit. To add to the merriment visitors will be able to take an exclusive Christmas photo at each truck stop. The perfect holiday gift to send to all the family.

And for the journey home, why not tune into Coca-Cola sponsored Christmas FM? They’ll be bringing you the magic of Christmas through the airwaves all December long, so you can belt out your favourite festive tune (or two). Tis’ the season!

Deck the stalls

After a unique gift for a loved one these holidays? You’re in luck!  This year, you can pick up bespoke Coca-Cola Christmas gifts at each Truck Tour stop, with stalls stocked full of great options for all ages. Plus, with each stop featuring the handmade goods of two local vendors, you’re sure to find a one of a kind present for that special someone.

What’s more, to spread the Christmas spirit even further, all proceeds from the Coca-Cola merchandise cart will be donated to our charity partner, St. Vincent de Paul. And, in full support of ‘World Without Waste’, our global commitment to collect and recycle a bottle or can for each one sold by the year 2030, we’ll also donate 25c to St. Vincent de Paul for every can sampled and recycled.

This year promises to be our biggest Christmas campaign yet!

Share a message with loved ones

Part of the magic of Christmas is that it brings people together. It’s something we know a bit about at Coca-Cola, which is why we want to connect those who can’t be together during the holiday season.

This year we’re helping people across the island of Ireland welcome home their nearest and dearest. You can head over to TodayFM.com/WelcomeHome and create your own personalised ‘Welcome Home’ message for that special someone in your life who you can’t wait to see. For those looking to dazzle international visitors or jetsetting family members, you can even create a personalised message to be displayed in Dublin Airport!

Whether they’re flying, catching a cab or on foot, you can let loved ones know you’re thinking of them with Coca-Cola. How? By sharing a live countdown clock via WhatsApp, or any of your preferred social channels, with friends or family. That way they’ll know when you’ll be home to celebrate the festive season (and to have a refreshing drink ready for your arrival).

Staying safe during the festivities

It wouldn’t be the holidays without good food, drink and company. But that doesn’t mean you have to go overboard, especially if you plan on hitting the roads during the festive period. Especially when there’s a refreshing alternative on offer.

To help encourage people across the island of Ireland to stay sober, and ensure loved ones and friends get home safely during the festive period we’re giving out your favourite Coca-Cola drinks for free! Unsung heroes who take on the role of designated drivers can score two soft drinks on the house from the Coca-Cola range throughout December.

TV presenter and author James Kavanagh and radio DJ Melissa Riddell will be part of the action, they’ve put their hands up (and alcoholic drinks down) to take on the role of designated driver over the Christmas period.

The idea of free Coca-Cola beverages was certainly irresistible for Kavanagh: “I’m thrilled to be on board to help spread the word about the 2019 Coca-Cola Designated Driver and Holidays Are Coming campaign. Anyone who knows me knows I live for Christmas nights out, but don’t always feel like drinking. Thanks to both my newly acquired full drivers’ license and Coca-Cola, this Christmas I’ll be able to buzz my mates to and from a night out and get my favourite Coca-Cola drinks for free – it’s a no-brainer!”

Celebrating community

Petre Sandru, Country Manager of Coca-Cola Ireland, is looking forward to the upcoming Truck Tour and the goodwill it’s sure to spread across the country:

“We can’t wait to start spreading the Christmas spirit across the island of Ireland with the return of our iconic truck along with our other Christmas activities. We’re also excited to help support talented local producers to be able to sell their goods at the truck’s stops, with the tour bringing a sprinkling of festive magic to consumers. In addition to this, it is important that we also reinforce our commitment to working towards zero waste by promoting recycling and donating to our charity partner”.

Spreading the festive spirit across the globe

This year our iconic campaign is going global, spreading the message that we have more in common than we may first think. In addition to our annual Holidays is Coming advert, we’re launching a new advert, ‘Accepting Santa’, which will hit Irish airwaves this December. The advert reminds us that there’s more that unites us than divides us. After all, the festive season is about coming together and celebrating the holidays – over your favourite Coca Cola beverage, naturally.

Keep an eye out for limited edition Coca-Cola packaging on packs of Coca-Cola original taste, Coca-Cola zero sugar and Diet Coke; available nationwide for the Christmas period!
