The starting pistol has fired on the call for runners, joggers and walkers to join the Coca-Cola HBC Campus 5k run taking place in the National Sports Campus on Sunday 29th May 2016 to raise funds for Foróige and the young people of Dublin 15.

With something for everyone on the day, people of all abilities are being encouraged to sign-up for a run, jog or stroll around the 5k route which takes in all the major developments and facilities at the National Sports Campus including the new GAA National Centre of Excellence, the FAI National Training Centre, The Irish Institute of Sport and the National Horse Sport Arena.

The run will begin at 12 noon with a Family 1k Fun Run beginning at 11.30am.

There will also be entertainment and activities for all throughout the morning and afternoon – a fun-filled day to raise some funds for Foróige

All participants will be chip timed and for those that cross the line in double quick time it will be worth the effort, with €600 in cash prizes to be won for top runners. But for those of us with a more leisurely pace there are goodie bags and t-shirts for all and random spot prizes to some lucky participants.

If teamwork is your thing then there is also a team entry option available with five runners per team and corporate groups are encouraged to get involved – an ideal team building activity with your colleagues whilst raising some money for a good cause at the same time!

“This event was a great success last year, raising considerable funds for our youth projects,” said Foróige’s Sara Ennis. “Thanks to the invaluable support we enjoy from our partners Coca-Cola HBC and the National Sports Campus, all funds raised will go directly towards the provision of a comprehensive range of youth work services, enabling communities to respond effectively to the needs of the young people in the area. We urge everyone to sign-up today, and put their best foot forward for the young people of Dublin 15.”

As part of its range of community investment initiatives, the event is supported by Coca-Cola HBC Ireland, one of the world's largest bottlers for the products of The Coca-Cola Company that employs almost 300 people nearby in Ballycoolin, and almost 1,000 across the island of Ireland.

”With our Dublin office based in Ballycoolin, we are delighted to support the work that Foróige does to inspire, support and educate our young people in Dublin 15,” said Ciara Cashen, Coca-Cola HBC Ireland. “We are proud to be able to invest in the community where our employees live and work, while also offering the opportunity for people of all ages and abilities to get involved in a great local event that encourages active and healthy lifestyles.”

Lending their support are Rio Olympics hopeful Shane Ryan and fellow high performance swimmer Bethany Carson who showed their enthusiasm at the launch of the community run at the National Sports Campus.

David Conway, Campus Director said, “We’re delighted to be hosting the Campus Run for a fourth year, and to be supporting the important work that Foróige does in the local area. We are also very pleased to open our campus up to general public so that participants can get an insight into the work that we’re doing here at the National Sports Campus, and a glimpse of some of world class sporting facilities we host on the site along the 5k route.”

Make sure you’re on the starting line and benefit from being quick, with a special early bird registration rate of €15 available until Friday 22nd April 2016. After that the registration for the 5k race is €20 and for young people from the age of 13 to 17 the entry cost is €10.
